Hi, I am not sure this is the right forum for the comments as they could be feature request...

I store my photos based on the photographer and then I organize them into sub-folders based on the year and month the image was taken.

f:\pictures\photographer1\year\month

In the root of the pictures folder (f:\pictures for example) I have about 10 photographers with the year and month sub-folders beneath them. In addition to the photographers I have a stock images and an icon folder which have different sub-folders.Initially I picked the f:\pictures folder to import my pictures from. It searched for all the folders as it should.

At that point I realized that I should have selected only the photographer folders. There is no way to stop or cancel the import process - I had to kill the application with task manager. I cleaned out the index database and tried again

1) There should be a way to cancel the picture import process when importing pictures into a new index.

2) When picking folders the browse for folder dialog should remember the last folder picked. It currently defaults to my pictures in my documents. This is annoying when that is not where your pictures are stored (I have mine stored on another drive). The text box that displays the folders to import pictures from should support drag and drop. That way I could highlight all of the folders I am interested in and drop them in, bypassing the browse dialog.

3) The index database is stored far away from where the pictures are located (c:\documents and settings\[user name]\local settings\application data\.... This is fine, however I pointed My Documents folder to another location on my secondary hard disk (f:\MyDocuments) and my pictures are not located under c:\my documents and settings. Beside most people will not backup that folder and can potentially loose the data. I would suggest that the index databases be stored under the users My Documents folder. That way if the my documents is on another hard disk a primary hard disk failure will not cause data lose (at the very least it is minimal effort to restore from backups). Ideally it would be nice to have a configuration file of the indexes where I can put a path to the database so that I could store it with my pictures (under a folder such as: f:\pictures\.MyPhotoIndex).

Hi,

1) I totally agree with this one (Happened to me as well) this is one of the things you neglect since it's so small, I've added this to the issue tracker and I'll add this soon.

2) I'll add the save last folder to the next release, as for the drag drop, you can currently import files/folders by dropping them into the main application window (duplicates are ignored),

3) You can create the photo index anywhere you want, by either moving the index file to an other location and using the File-> Open menu or create a new photo index with the same menu which is useful when you have a large amount of photos, the thumbnail cache file is created for each index file.

The thumbnails cache file can also be moved by using the cache settings menu

Asaf.
