Hi

I have spent a lot of time creating 64 different tags and adding them to about 2000 images. I mistakenly thought that MyPhotoIndex actually edits the IPTC/XMP metadata on the images themselves... but it looks like it does not do this.

I have opened the MyPhotoIndex.mdb file and looked at the "Images" table which has fields: "Id", "FullPath" and "ImageTags" but the data in the "ImageTags" field is not accessible.

I want to export a data file (csv) which shows me the link between "ID" or "FullPath" and "ImageTags" so that I can use another application to convert these tags into metadata on the actual images themselves.

How can I create this data file?

Regards

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Give me a couple of hours, I will create an add-on that can do that(export).

What is the name of the application you are using?

Regards,

Asaf.

Hi Asaf - thanks for your quick response here!

I am using MDBPlus to view & export the data file (csv).

I have not yet decided which application to use for writing this data file to metadata on the actual images, but there is one called ExifTool. Another options is to modify the data from the csv file to create a batch file that automatically moves these images into folders according to their tags. Then I could manually tag these using an application like iTag.

There is also an adobe forum which has a script that can be run in Bridge CS3 to automate metadata writing from csv files - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/287397.... So that's another option...

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I've uploaded a plug-in to codeplex : http://myphotoindex.codeplex.com/releases/view/28863

It's called "Export Data Plug-in"

Just download it and drop into : C:\Program Files\MyPhotoIndex\My Photo Index\Plugins

and start the application. In the tools->Plugins menu you will have "Export" now/

The plug-in is very basic, tell me if this is the right direction you had in mind so I can add more features to it.

Regards,

Asaf.
