I was planning on writing an application similar to this but you beat me to it.  Thank you for saving me the work.  Have you considered making this open source so I and others could assist with its development.

Hi,

Actually the option of making this open source popped up a lot of times, The reason it's still not open source is that managing this kind of project will demand more resources I currently don't have  :(, (but it's time to reevaluate this option I think).

However the licence of the project is very permissive, I don't obfuscate any of the code so it can be de-compiled for learning purposes, and the components are separated in a manner the the controls can be reused to build a modified application,

I also try to post code samples and parts of the application for people to  workwith , However your suggestion is valid and I will reevaluate the idea of open source community.

Thanks,

 Asaf.

Hi,

I'm glad to announce that My Photo Index was released as open source under the GPL License.

The Code and Build information can be found on CodePlex

I stumbled on this project over at Codeplex. The funny thing is, like RHull, I was playing on writing my own take on photo management using c#. I downloaded and installed it. Currently I am index 74000 pictures or so. I'll see how this works out but it looks very nice so far. How would one contribute patches or updates to functionality or plugins?

What are you using as an IDE, Visual Studio, SharpDevelop or something else?

Hi,

You can contribute either by uploading patches to codeplex or sending them directly by mail, I'm planing on building a plug in page so people will be able to upload their own plug-ins with automatic updates and so on..

I would really be interested in knowing how much time it takes to index 74000 images.

I'm currently using VS 2008 as IDE.

Asaf.
